They followed this with a song by The Courteneers called
"Small Bones". A special request for all the "hens" caused the dancefloor to erupt as stetsons were
handed out to all the "hens" and the went mental to Luke Bryant's "Country Girl". We kept the vibe
with Brookes and Dunnes's "Play something country for me" and the "5-6-7-8" by Steps.
See photos from the night on our facebook page.

WEDDING ORDER OF SERVICE

What is a Wedding Order of Service?
Your Wedding Order of Service is a way of guiding your guests through the ceremony, a timetable of what is happening and when.
At most traditional wedding ceremonies the order of service is printed in booklet form for each guest. May couples match the design of this booklet to the rest of their wedding stationery.

Do I need an Order of Service?
For those having a micro wedding or a short ceremony or an eco-conscious affair or are on a tight budget, you may be hesitant to print a booklet style order of service. However there are other ways to present your order of service that can be adapted to suit.
For example, many couples opt for one big sign with everything printed on it and placed in a prominent position for everyone to see, or have a printed pull up banner with all the details printed on it.

What should I include?
It is customary to include your names, the wedding date and the location of the venue. For each part of the ceremony you normally include the time, what is happening, who is performing it and what music might be being played.
For example: 10.30 am Aisle Entrance.....music Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
For a church wedding it is usual to include the words to any hymns which guests might be required to sing along to.
You may also wish to include the names of the Bridal Party and any Family Members.
At the end of the order of service you might also want to say a special thank you to those who helped you organise the wedding, or note that you want an Unplugged ceremony. (No photos of wedding ceremony to appear on social media during the ceremony).

www.weddingdjfife.co.ukemail: info@weddingdjfife.co.uk
tel: 01592774683 mob: 07775261740

5 TIPS WHEN PLANNING YOUR WEDDING.

5 Tips when planning your wedding.

1. SET A DATE AND CHOOSE YOUR VENUE.
One of the first things you have to do when planning your wedding is to set a date and then choose a venue or venues.
One of the best bits about planning your wedding is you get to look around some amazing venues. remember that you may not always get the venue that you had your heart set on so be flexible and have a few alternative choices as ell.

2. GET INSPIRED
Start by thinking about all the other weddings you have been to....What did you like about them?...What did you not like about them?...What would you change?
Remember its your day and it can be anything you want it to be. Use websites like Pinterest for inspiration and ideas. Attend Wedding Fayres and meet wedding suppliers that are in your local area and from further afield.
Create a scrapbook for all your ideas which you can refer back to as you plan.

3. BOOK YOUR WEDDING SUPPLIERS.
Now that you've set the date and booked the venue you'll need to start booking suppliers who will help you realise your vision. The average couple uses between 13 - 15 suppliers, so its important to start booking them as early as possible. Entertainment and Photography are among those who get booked up well in advance, so if you have a favoured supplier for these, you should get them booked up as early as possible.
Make sure that any suppliers that you do choose, supply you with a written contract. Check their websites and social media pages to see what kind of reviews they've been getting and what services they can supply.

4. PLAN YOUR BUDGET.
With so many options for entertainment, wedding decor, photographers, videographers, cakes and dresses, it is so easy to overspend. Set yourself a budget as soon as possible and keep referring back to it during the planning process. Get several quotes from different suppliers to compare prices and services.
Don't always base your final choices purely on price alone.

5. CREATE YOUR GUEST LIST.
Before booking your venue, take into account the number of guests you would to be with you on your big day.
Nothing worse than choosing the perfect venue and then realising that its either too big or too small for the number of guests you want to invite. deciding who to invite or who not to invite is not an easy task. Our advice would be to set up some rules beforehand and stick to them. For example, if they are not related to you and you've not spoken to them in several years, do you really need to invite them?

Incidentally these basics can be applied to any type of celebration. Happy planning.

Planning a small wedding on a short timeframe.

MAKE YOUR DAY PERSONAL.

Having a small wedding does not mean it has to be rushed and by adding in personal touches you can make the day more personal and memorable than you had originally planned.
CELEBRATE IN A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION.

A wedding that is planned at speed does not have to be basic and unappealing. Get creative with your venue, think romantic rooftop wedding, think amazing garden weddings. Use decor and props to create the magical atmosphere that you want. No matter how small your wedding, you deserve a day that looks fantastic that you and your guests will remember.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS.
Organising a smaller wedding on a shorter timescale means that you have to be more attentive to the essential details, such as food, decorations, drinks, entertainment.
PLANNING YOUR WEDDING DURING LOCKDOWN.

Planning your wedding is no easy task at the best of times, but planning your big day during lockdown throws up a whole new set of problems. You can't try on your dress, you cant visit your venue, you can't meet with your suppliers.....it must be a nightmare. However there are things you can do. Here are a few tips for planning your big day during lockdown.
Use Social Media.
Instagram and Pinterest are amazing places for inspiration with everything from dresses to cutlery, cakes to transport and entertainment. Try searching for local suppliers and local venues as well as local hashtags.
Remember to create boards on Pinterest and bookmark images on Instagram to help you find your favourite images to share with your family and friends.
Facebook is a great resource for finding local suppliers, reading reviews and recommendations and for seeing photos of their recent work.
Its also a great way of keeping in touch with bridesmaids and family and friends, keeping in touch with your suppliers or your wedding party.
Follow your local suppliers to keep up to date with their special offers and discounts.

Book Suppliers.
With so many weddings being postponed from 2020 to 2021 or 2022, many suppliers have already been booked to cover all the postponed dates from 2020, so if you have any suppliers that you really want to have for your big day then you should get them booked as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Whilst you may not be able to meet them in person, you could give them a call or arrange a video meeting.

DIY.
Check out Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. You could save yourself some money b if you get creative and make your own centrepieces, invitations, favours, place cards....the list goes on and on.

Take care of yourself.
There's no getting away from the fact that planning your wedding is both a stressful and difficult time, but remember to take time for yourself and enjoy your planning.
Stay positive and look forward to what is going to be the best day of your life regardless of what changes you may have to make along the way.

Why midnight is the best time to finish your wedding reception.

Why midnight is the best time to finish your wedding reception.

We are frequently asked to perform at wedding receptions until 1.00 am. Quite often this is a last minute change of plans, suggested by function co-ordinators at your final meeting, as the original booking was until midnight.

Having been in the wedding industry for 42 years in our opinion it is not a good idea to extend your finishing times after all your invites have been sent out. In fact we try to encourage our clients not to have a 1.00 am finish from the outset.

Why finish at midnight??

Firstly many of your guests including yourselves and the bridal party will have been up since early morning getting ready for the big day. Many of your guests will have travelled quite a long distance either by driving themselves or by arriving by coaches laid on by the bride and groom. Depending upon where your guests are coming from and where the pick up points are for the coaches some of your guests could have been on the coaches for several hours.

Guests of a certain generation may find it difficult to envisage staying on until the early hours of the following day and will tend to leave around 10.30 to ensure that they get home safely. Other guests may have young children with them who will start to tire or have babysitters at home which means that they will dwindle away as well in order to let the babysitter home for a reasonable hour.

Depending upon your location it may be quite difficult for guests to get taxis home after midnight, not forgetting the extra costs involved when booking taxis after midnight.

If you are having your wedding ceremony, your wedding meal and your evening reception all in the same venue, this can become slightly claustrophobic for many people as they will have been there for anything up to 12 - 13 hours. Alternatively if you are getting married elsewhere such as a church or a registry office this will mean adding in extra travel for you and your guests.

Bare in mind also that if you are providing coaches for your guests and you finish at 1.00 am the last person may not get off that coach for another couple of hours depending upon how far the coaches have to travel.

It is better to finish your night on a "high" with as many of your guests as possible still with you than to add on an extra hour and watch your numbers drop, sometimes into single figures.

From the point of view of the couple's future memories, this is of paramount importance.

Some venues will try to encourage a late finish in an attempt to try to sell more alcohol, but the wise venues realise that this doesn't actually happen as most people who attend receptions/functions will only have a certain amount of money with them and when it runs out, it runs out, so guests will sit with one drink for the last hour.

From an entertainers point of view, we could charge extra for that extra hour and in fact many bands will charge double their hourly rate per member of the band which can add quite a substantial amount to your bill. However we would rather finish with as many people as possible and give you an ending to your night to remember.

Doubtlessly, it will have been the best day of your life. Allow us to help ensure that the best memories last longest.

SPEECH GUIDELINES FOR THE BRIDE'S FATHER

Speech guidelines for the brides father.

1. As the host it is very much your place to welcome everyone, hoping that they have enjoyed themselves so far with more to come.

2. Welcome the grooms family and friends. It is generally understood that the brides family provide the hospitality, even if the actual costs are shred.

3. Welcome the groom into your family, recount a funny story about the courtship or when you first met the groom. Give him your support.

4. the most important part of your speech is your account of your daughter growing up and her transformation from a baby to a beautiful woman who is about to leave your fold and embark on the journey into married life.

5. You may wish to give some advice to your daughter and her new husband, how to handle her, her likes and dislikes and anything you think of that makes for a long and happy marriage.

6. Finish by making the formal toast along the lines of "Family and friends please be upstanding and join me in raising your glasses to...(names)..., the bride and groom.

Sit down and enjoy the rest of the day.

Toast and Speeches

Toasts and Speeches

Toasts and Speeches are often regarded as a great source of worry to the people who are called upon to make them, but it is a great honour to propose a toast or make a speech at a wedding and with a little bit of planning a great deal of satisfaction can be derived from the occasion.

A few basic rules.

1. Dont leave the preparation of your speech to the last minute.

2. If you dont bother to put much effort into your speech, you wont get much out of it.

3. have the main points written down on paper or card, number the pages, write in large letters so that you can read them from the table while you are standing up.

4. Always use your own words as it makes it so much easier to memorise your speech.

5. Practice your speech before the day. This can be done with a friend who may offer some help or advice or by standing in front of a mirror when you have the house to yourself.

SPEECH GUIDELINES FOR THE GROOM.

1. Always start with "My wife and I" or "On behalf of my wife and I", I would like to thank (brides fathers name) for his kind words.

2. Thank everyone for sharing the day with you.

3. Thank the member of the clergy/humanist/celebrant for the lovely service.

4. Give a special mention to guests who have traveled a long way to be there, mention them by name.

5. A special mention should also be given to absent friends, who may live to far away, or are perhaps ill, or no longer with us. End with "our thoughts are with them as theirs I'm sure are with us".

6. Thank everyone for their gifts, if you wish make special mention of large expensive or sentimental gifts. refer to the gifter by name.

7. If the wedding cake has been made by someone attending the wedding it is usual to thank them by name.

8. Thank your parents for the guidance, love, support, encouragement and for always being there when you've needed them throughout your life. Thank them for welcoming your new wife to the family and conclude lightheartedly by saying something like "most of all thank you for putting up with me for the last (number of years)."

9. Now thank your wife's parents for the arrangements they have made and for welcoming you into their home as a member of the family. Now is a good time to present bouquets and gifts.

10. Address your wife at this point. Tell her how beautiful she is, how happy she makes you and tell her that you will strive to build an excellent future together, be as sentimental as you like at this point.

11. Thank the ushers and page boys then devote a few minutes to the best man. Tell your guests how long you've been friends, mention an amusing incident and finish by thanking him for getting you to the church and for looking after you at the stag night.

12. Finish your speech by proposing a formal toast to the bridesmaids along the following lines "May I take this opportunity to thank the bridesmaids who I think everyone will agree look absolutely beautiful. My wife is very grateful for all the help you have given her, so please everyone be upstanding and raise your glasses to the bridesmaids."
